Installation of the most recent stable release:

The default way of installing or updating OpenMS in KNIME is via the KNIME Menu “Help->Install New Software …”. You can install or update OpenMS to the most recent stable version by selecting the community contribution software channel that matches your KNIME version(e.g. for KNIME 3.2.1 it is KNIME Community Contributions (3.2) – http://update.knime.org/community-contributions/trusted/3.2 )

Installation of the full installer that includes all dependencies:

In some circumstances, it is more convenient to have one single installer that already bundles KNIME, OpenMS and all dependencies (e.g., if you need to install KNIME/OpenMS without internet connection). The latest stable version of OpenMS is automatically included in the next KNIME release that bundles all free extensions. Make sure to compare the release date of OpenMS and KNIME. Only if the KNIME release was after the OpenMS release you will get the most recent OpenMS version by downloading the “KNIME Analytics Platform + all free extensions” installer from the KNIME website without the need of installing the OpenMS plugin in KNIME via the community contributions.

Installation of the experimental, nightly releases:

If you need cutting edge features only available in the current development version of OpenMS you can add: Nightly OpenMS plugins – http://update.knime.org/community-contributions/trunk/ as an installation source in KNIME. Note that these are less stable then the stable releases.
